Christmas came and went in a flash.  With Black Friday, the Friday after Thanksgiving which marks the beginning of the holiday shopping season, the malls are crowded, everyone is looking for the same gifts, and sometimes the stress was just way too much for some people.

I heard that there were people upset with each other, especially in the parking lot of shopping malls because parking spaces were difficult to find.  When one opened up, everyone rushed to be the first to take the spot but then they started yelling at each other because someone felt that if they saw it, it was theirs!  WOW!

What has Christmas become for many of us people nowadays?  I have to admit that I got engrossed in trying to attain a Wii Game System for myself but of course, everyone else wanted a Wii so that made things more challenging.  There even was a comic strip mocking the things that people will go through in order to get a Wii.  (check it out here http://www.aroundhawaii.com/entertainment/cartoons/2007-12_online_aloha_december_2007.html)  After reading this comic strip, I gave up on trying to stand in line before the stores opened up.  Although I still have to confess, I entered one of those sweepstakes that were giving out a free Wii.  Don't know if I will get it but it never hurts to try!

Although all of this craziness occurs every year, it is always good to know that there are still things out there that will ease the stresses that come with this season.  We enjoyed a Christmas Light Parade towards the beginning of this month.  Yes, we too have something like this in Hawaii!  Not only Disneyland.

This parade marks the beginning of the Honolulu City Lights display in the Downtown area for Christmas.  Although the majority of the pictures shown are Police, Fire, and Ambulance, there were other departments and other entities such as high school marching bands that participated in the parade.
