This past weekend, my wife and I were invited to a BBQ party at a fabulous beach house just past Kahala. The party was also to celebrate our friend's baby girl's first birthday. Here on the islands, we often throw a big party for a keiki's first birthday.
I just love barbeques, and as you can see, I just cannot stay away from helping out at the grill and playing with the fire.
There were lots of food and of course, tons of beverages. Pictured here are the think and juicy rib eye steaks, and pictured next were the succulent chicken wings that we grilled as pupus for everyone. I must say, that the best part of staying near the grill is that you can sample each of the items right off the grill, nice and hot!

The next picture is the sliced pork marinated in char siu sauce. You know the sweet red sauce used in making char siu pork? I like char siu pork but this one I think was marinated too long in the sauce.
The rest of the spread included crab dip and caviar on crackers, sushi platters, tako poke, ahi poke, grilled bell peppers, grilled jumbo shrimp, lobster tails, king crab legs, kahuku sweet corn, kalbi ribs, teriyaki steak, namasu, caesar salad, spinach salad, macaroni and potato salads, platters of cheese and platters of fruits. I must say, this was one of the most deluxe barbeques that I have been to! I think there was food enough for 50 people but I only counted 25. It was going to be a long night!

This is a picture of the beach house. I spent so much time outside that I forgot to take a look inside and see how big it was! Oh well, maybe next time.
It was a perfect day with the sun shining and the blue skies, a nice breeze coming off the shore and the coconut trees offering a nice amount of shade. With an ice cold beverage in one hand and the other had grabbing some pupus, one can sit back and relax and rejuvenate.
Lucky we live Hawaii!

Re: BBQ at a Beach House
Aloha Canoe Girl, HA HA HA! Did you know that it is not good to eat late at night? Yes, we should all get together! Definitely a Beach BBQ would be awesome, but the weather has not been cooperating lately. . . Usually I am the one that gets invited but the next one that I plan, you are definitely invited!
